IRR (infrared remission) in action
IRR (infrared remission) in action
Night vision devices are high-tech equipment that is actively used throughout the world when performing tactical and combat missions in conditions of limited visibility typical of the dark time of day. Availability of such advanced devices in service with the enemy necessitates the creation and use of military equipment that solves the task of masking in the near-infrared spectral range. That is, the main purpose of creating materials with IRR is to display the figure of a fighter and tactical equipment “broken” into parts, without clearly reflecting the contours and outlines.
IR spectra of natural objects, bodies, objects
The near infrared spectral range extends within 700-1200 nm. The figures of people, animals, inanimate objects, falling into this area, become potentially unprotected when viewing the terrain in night vision devices, since all of them are characterized by a certain reflection coefficient.
Most of the modern equipment operates in the range of 900-1000 nanometers. Suppose that the remission is as close to 100% as possible. With such level of reflection, the human figure becomes in full view, literally “glowing” on the device screen. If remission tends to 0%, then bodies and objects, on the contrary, are seen as a “black hole”.
Why it happens? The reflection coefficient of the soil, trees, stones, water surface and other environmental objects is within 10-80%. Accordingly, if the remission of materials from which the clothes and equipment are made, significantly exceeds the threshold of 70%, then the figure of the fighter becomes distinguishable in night-vision devices. When the reflection coefficient is below 5-10%, the silhouette of a person against the background of the natural landscape is displayed as a clear black spot, which also does not contribute to the effectiveness of masking.
The arrival of the first night vision devices in service became the starting point for creating dyed materials, in the manufacture of which special dyes with a low self-remission rate were used. But such a disguise remained insufficient, which led to further research in this area. Today there is army ammunition on the market which ensures maximum masking of the radiation of a human body under the sight of night vision devices.
The advantages of military equipment and equipment with IRR
Military industry quickly accepted the military needs and now a wide range of IRR products is on the market. But the cost of such equipment from European manufacturers is still high enough for the Ukrainian military. Domestic manufacturer Velmet Armor System offers tactical equipment with the optimal rate of IR remission at competitive, economically reasonable prices, affordable for a wide range of consumers.
Our equipment:
· Remains unnoticed by the sight of night vision devices.
· Made from original fabric Cordura IRR, which determines the excellent consumer properties of products.
· It features with high reliability and durability, resistance to negative environmental factors.
· Pleases excellent value for money!
We make high tech more affordable to preserve the most important value - human lives!
