DSTU 8782:2018
The main characteristic of the bulletproof vest is the protection class. At the moment, Ukrainian manufacturers must focus on a single standard classification of ballistic protection classes - DSTU 8782: 2018. The class of protection is determined by the type and characteristics of the bullet (striking element), to confront which the bulletproof vest is designed. And in the article we will consider classes (levels) of protection according to this standard

The following notations and abbreviations are used in this standard:
Б-32 - armor-piercing bullet with a steel core in a steel (bimetallic) shell;
БЗ - armor-piercing and incendiary bullet with heat-strengthened core in a steel (bimetallic) shell;
ВТК - department of technical control of the manufacturer;
ЗІП - a set of spare parts, tools and devices;
КД - design documentation;
ЛПС - a light bullet with a non-thermosetting steel core in a steel (bimetallic) shell;
НД - normative document - a document that establishes rules, guidelines or characteristics for the activity or its results;
Пст - pistol bullet with non-thermosetting steel core in a steel (bimetallic) shell;
ПС - a ball with a thermosetting steel core in a steel (bimetallic) shell;
ПП - a ball with a heat-strengthened core in a steel (bimetallic) shell;
FMJ RN SC - bullet with an all-metal cover from a copper alloy with a nasal part of a hemispherical form with a soft (lead) core (a sign according to NIJ 0101.06);
СМ - a special class of protection of bulletproof vests from the action of hunting smoothbore weapons;
CX - a special class of protection of bulletproof vests from the effects of cold steel;
ТД - a set of technological documentation;
TDCC C.I.P. - tables of sizes of cartridges in accordance with the decisions of the Standing International Commission for the Testing of Small Arms;
ЦРАУ ЗС України - Central Missile and Artillery Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
