A lightweight explosives suit designed for individual protection of the user (sapper) from the factors of the explosion: excessive pressure of the air shock wave, fragments, exposure to heat and open flame, and also protects against injuries when the operator falls.
The main difference from similar protective complexes of sappers (explosive technicians) is modularity, that is, this suit can be assembled from components from a plate carrier to an engineering suit.
The modular system for demining includes:
– protective vest with soft and hard armor elements;
– protective shorts with belt-shoulder system;
– protection elements of the lower part of the leg (shin area);
– elements of protection of the upper part of the arm (shoulder joint and shoulder);
– elements of protection of the lower part of the hand (forearm area);
– a protective cape with a limiter for an armored helmet;
- a protective shield made of high-strength polymer materials;
– a Kevlar tactical helmet with an armor visor (bullet-resistant visor).
- Leg protection from anti-personnel mines.
The explosion-proof suit of a sapper from the Velmet company is equipped with soft armor panels made of UHMWPE + Aramid according to SO DSTU 8782:2018 with a total area of +/- 230 dm2. Hard armored vehicles according to class 4 of DSTU 8782:2018 with a total area of +/- 14 dm2. Shatter resistance according to STANAG 2920 V50, VST 01.301.003 - not less than 550 m/s (Vizor - 450 (600) m/s).
The total amount of body protection against fragments flying at speeds of 550-720 m/s is 92%.
The suit provides protection of the chest, abdomen and groin area from the explosive effects of 240 g of TNT at a distance of 60 cm to the nearest part of the body.
The maximum weight of the protective modular complex of the sapper is no more than 30 kg.
